I always love when Chicago media visits Libertyville.... This Friday - get ready for the big Bears/Packers game a little early. ESPN Chicago's Harry, Jerko and Carmen will be broadcasting live from Mickey Finn's from 2-6pm. More info on facebook HERE.

BTW - Finn's has Bill's Oatmeal Stout on tap.... That is my favorite beer they have on tap all year!

Speaking of the Bears....

There was a cool story in the Lake County News Sun a few days ago about Chicago Bears Tight End Des Clark taking Metra from Libertyville to Downtown Chicago - to head to Soldier Field last Saturday.

SHOCKER: LBC Football Official Accused of Ripping Off Almost $70k!

Stories like this are always disturbing - especially when they happen to people you know. The Daily Herald's Mick Zawislak is reporting that Libertyville CPA and Libertyville Boys Club volunteer, Christopher Jacobson is accused to pocketing $67,000 while serving as the LBC treasurer. According to the Daily Herald story, the club only has an annual budget of about $100,000. LBC chairman Rich Danilkowicz told the Daily Herald that he didn't expect the theft to affect day-to-day operations. LBC football has been around for 77 years.

Given the fact that the alleged theft represents almost 67% of the club's annual budget - I'm sure if you'd like to make a financial contribution to the group, your gift would be very much appreciated.

Libertyville, IL) – As MainStreet Libertyville wraps up another successful year of programs and promotion of downtown Libertyville, the organization is now actively recruiting volunteers for 2011!

“Whether it’s a few hours at one event, or coming in to the office every week to help, we have available positions that fit anyone’s schedule. Volunteers are needed to help run the various events. Other areas MainStreet is looking for help, includes openings on the committee level, including members for the organization and promotions committees. Additionally, MainStreet is actively looking to recruit a Volunteer Coordinator.

Libertyville Home Values on the Rise!

Good news for those looking to sell a home in Libertyville - according to Amy Alderman's story in the Libertyville TribLocal - home sales in town have increased by 12 percent! Home sales in Libertyville have far exceeded surrounding areas - Countywide, home sales have only increased 3.9 percent.

Story: http://triblocal.com/libertyville/2011/01/03/home-sales-increased-by-12-percent-in-2010

Mayor Terry Weppler is quoted in the story as saying: “Talk to anyone about why they moved to Libertyville and they would say it would be because of the schools and downtown,”

I couldn't agree more with the mayor! This is a good reason why it's important to support MainStreet Libertyville! Are you a member? Visit the MainStreet website, or just e-mail me (jimmoran77 (at) gmail.com) if you want more information on becoming a member and/or MainStreet volunteer.
