After much speculation, our 10th District U.S. Congressman Mark Kirk is expected to announce on Monday, his intentions for a run at U.S. Senate. New Parking Garage Will Feature Security Cameras
Some bad news for high school students hoping for a new make-out spot in Libertyville - It's being reported in today's News-Sun newspaper that the Village Board has voted to install 26 cameras at the new parking garage at Lake Street and Brainerd Avenue. That works out to one camera for every 14 parking spaces! According to Ed Collin's piece in the paper - the project will only cost about $50,000 - which is money well spent if it can prevent a rape, mugging or some other violent crime.UPDATE: One thing I forgot to point out - I had to use the News-Sun coverage of the Village Board meeting because I wasn't able to make the meeting in person. It would be great if the Village Board will revisit the idea of broadcasting the meetings, or at least having an online video available for download or stream. One of the reasons the Village Board thought broadcasting the meetings would be a waste of time is that they felt no one in the village would watch them. I disagree. If you feel the same way I do, please call or e-mail members of the Village Board.
