Genevieve Gratz 1911-2010

One item of note - besides the Gratz family being a prominent fixture in Libertyville for over the past century, Mrs. Gratz's grandson Ken Griffin is #97 of the Forbes List of Richest Americans.

Visitation will be from 5-8pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home. Services will be held 11 am Thursday at the United Methodist Church. Memorial gifts to the Paramedic Units of the Mundelein and Libertyville Fire Departments were her wishes. For information, 847-362-3009.

Dog Days of Summer - 2010!

Take a leisurely stroll with your dog into the quant shops of Downtown Libertyville, or see and feel the exhilaration of the nationally recognized sport of “DockDogs-Big Air Dog Jumping”. During Libertyville’s Dog Days of Summer held Fri-Sun, July 9-11th you will have a chance to experience both.

Libertyville is proud to be Host City for the exciting three day highlight event featuring “DockDogs-Big Air Dog Jumping” Road to the National Championship. You will see Speed, Explosion , Big Air and SPLASH as dogs run down a 40 ft. dock and jump into a 27,000-gallon 20x40 foot pool. The event will feature 150 nationally ranked top jumping dogs competing for prizes and rankings. The competition is simple and exciting, the dog with the longest leap wins! There is a Local Competition at 3:30pm on Saturday, July 10th. During this competition 10 local dogs will jump for prizes and the title of ‘Libertyville’s Big Air Dog’.

MainStreet Merchants are dog friendly all year, however this weekend they are especially dog friendly hosting doggie related events. Examples include: Beef flavored snow cones from Starbucks, Studio West’s PhoDogRuffy Contest, Touche’ Salon’s paw-nail painting and dog friendly dining in the park or on the outdoor patios of Egg Harbor CafĂ©, 545 North and Mickey Finn’s. Cook Park will feature the Lake County Sheriff’s drug sniffing K-9’s, Ask a Vet with Dr. Brown from Greentree Animal Hospital and Family/Dog Fun Hour. You can attend St. Lawrence Episcopal Church’s dog blessing ceremony or take a test drive with your pup at one of many Libertyville Auto Dealerships. A fun time for your Pup and the entire family!
